If there’s one thing (but there’s more) that I just love about the internet, is that every day brings something new. Be it news from your favourite website via the RSS feed (Mine’s mybroadband, mygaming, and more), an email from your favourite software developer regarding a brand new version of the software, or just something cool a friend tells you about and gives you a link to.

Over the years I’ve been known to change my email address and IM ID more often than I changed my socks (not accurate, really, by you get the idea). And every time I find a new IM, I think this is the one to stick to. This left me with a yahoo, google, skype, msn, icq, facebook, twitter & mibli account. You end up making friends on each of the network, and before you know it, you’re “forced” to install each IM’s software on your PC… enough already!

I ended up looking at multiple IM messengers (One program that connects to all of the above at once). I was a big fan of Pidgin for a while, but I had to install a plugin for every small little function, and with each plugin having it’s own list of options, it left me with just WAY too much to re-setup every time I format my PC (I do it every 3-6 months). I looked at Trillian, probably the most popular Multi-IM around. I thought I found the answer… but not really. It still had WAY too many options, and yet some of the ones I really wanted weren’t there. It looks prettier (especially the new Astra version), but if you consider that your IM is minimised most of the time, WHO CARES!

DigsbyThen a good friend introduced me to Digsby. Even though there were a few bugs, it really did the essential things I needed it to do: It connected me to ALL* of my favourite networks, did it easily, and did it without bombarding me with a seemingly unending list of options – while still doing the job way better than the IM’s that have DEFINITELY found the Devil in the details. This was almost a year ago.
*Apart from Skype, and nobody’s been able to truly integrate that into a Multi-IM. Trillian tried, but it just loads the Skype main software too)

Today, I must say, is one big jump forward for Digsby. A few little things that still bugged me were fixed, and a few things I didn’t even know I needed (as life goes) were added!  It’s fast, it’s stable, it doesn’t slow down your PC, and most of all, it does what it’s meant to do, and does it well! OH YES, AND IT’S FREE!

To love, to behold… to view the splendour of you
To kiss your lips, to run the back of my hand along the contours of your cheeks
To love so deeply, so completely, so intensely, that all existence seems to fade next to your smile,
To cry, such deep tears, such wells of sorrow at the realization of your absence
To vow to never love again
To never love again regardless of the vow
To dream an eternal, romantic, idealistic dream of you
To wish I could be the ointment to your wounds
To realize I hold the knife in my hand that caused those wounds
The dagger I wish was driven in me
The pain I wish you were spared, and I to endure
The love I wish to show you
The hate I wish to spare you
The sorrow I wish to part from your tender spirit
The loneliness I yearn to strip from my existence
The void I thirst for you to fill with your sweet voice
Dripping with sweetness
Flowing with purity
Creep into my arms
Curl into my soul
Wet my eternal essence
Be as we were, innocent and pure, and all the hope in the world
Tears never cried
Untrue obscenities never spoken
To hold you so close as to fuse our bodies, time and tense into one complete, perfect, circle.
But most of all…
I wish for you to be complete my love
With, or without me…

A seed planted in ancient times, by ancient hands, in ancient soils…
Nurtured by an eternal sun, forged by divine alchemy, strengthened by the blood of many…
In your earth nations have blossomed, and waned, and committed ritual suicides… as nations do.

Emperors of evil and good, sin and virtue, have stood at your feet, and bowed in disbelief and awe…
Principalities, presidents, priests and prophets have come to you at the end of their days…
Angels and demons have fought for your rise and demise… as angels and demons do.

A dark adrenaline has driven me to the banks of this river that flows beneath these roots…
The solar winds have filled the sails of my soul, frequently gentle, occasionally almost ripping, but never tearing…
Today I will reluctantly, then gladly, give in to your seduction, and ignore all promises I’ve made against this allegiance…
as lovers do.
