I love these kinds of presentations. I do however think this one doesn’t give as good an idea of scale as Cosmic Voyage did, but it’s a great clip nonetheless.
Dark matter, I think, is simply quarks (the smaller elements atoms are made of) that hasn’t formed into atoms, molecules or elements. Thus they still have the weight and abundance to account for the dark matter phenomenon, but cannot actually be detected due to their small size.
Dark energy, the unexplained “energy” responsible for the accelerated expansion of the universe, I think, is not an energy at all, but merely gravity losing out. Everything, from the smallest atom to the largest solar system and galaxy, finds itself in a rotational pattern (orbits & rotation). Why would the universe as a whole be any different… thus my theory is that the universe is rotating/spinning, and the expansion is caused due to gravity not being strong enough to keep everything together. The initial expansion was caused by the big bang, but when that energy wore off, the universe was already spinning, and too much expanded for gravity to be strong enough to cause it to implode again. The same concept as a hammer thrower letting go of the hammer.
Keep in mind that these theories are bases on the conclusions of a VERY limited understanding of how anything works, including gravity, the large magnetic force, and the small magnetic force. I flunked maths after all! I’ll probably change my mind after some episode of “The Universe” or another feature on History or Nat Geo! lol
